With the tap-to-pay functionality, you can easily collect contactless payments from your mobile. It’s quick, easy, and helps you take your business Anywhere.

Here’s everything you need to know:


How to connect Tap-to-Pay.

To connect Tap-to-Pay, simply take your first payment using that method.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Calendar and select an appointment for payment.

  2. Tap the ‘Payment(s)’ tab and select ‘Take payment’.

  3. Review the amount and tap ‘Continue’.

  4. Under ‘Payment details’, choose ‘Tap to pay’.

You’ll see one of these screens:

For iOS

  • If Stripe is already connected:

    • Confirm or add your business location.

    • On the Tap to Pay on iPhone screen choose ‘Continue’ or ‘Use a Different Apple Account’ to connect any valid Apple ID

    • ‘Agree’ to the terms to link your account.

  • If Stripe isn’t connected:

    • Tap ‘Connect Stripe’ from the prompt.

    • Log in with your email.

    • If you don’t have a Stripe account, you can create an account within this flow (However, your account needs to be verified on Stripe to process payments).

    • The remaining steps are the same as above.

For Android

  • If Stripe is already connected:

    • Confirm or add your business location.

  • If Stripe isn’t connected:

    • Tap ‘Connect Stripe’ from the prompt.

    • Log in with your email.

    • The remaining steps are the same as above.

Note: You must have a location connected to your Stripe account. If not, you can add one when you connect your Stripe account.

How to take a payment

  1. Go to Calendar and select an appointment for payment.

  2. Tap the ‘Payment(s)’ tab and select ‘Take payment’.

  3. Review the amount and tap ‘Continue’.

  4. Under ‘Payment details’, choose ‘Tap to pay’.You’ll then reach the payment screen.

  5. When prompted with Hold Here to Pay, have your customer tap their card.

    1. iPhone - Hold to the front of your device.

    2. Android - Hold to the back of your device.

  6. Once you see Done, your payment is confirmed.

If there’s an error reading the card, you’ll be prompted to ‘Try again’. Simply tap the card again to take payment successfully


FAQs

Is Tap to Pay available via other payment integrations?

No other integration has Tap to Pay functionality for mobile but you can accept contactless payments through your terminal with Square.

Only with Square, we can take tap-to-pay via the POS app mobile integration.

Are there any fees with Tap to Pay?

Setmore, Apple Pay, or Google Pay does not charge any additional fees. There are only the fees applied by your banking provider.

How are payments processed with Tap to Pay?

Tap to Pay payments are processed by your Stripe account. These are then deposited to the bank account connected to your Stripe account

Can I disconnect Tap to Pay on iPhone merchant ID from an Apple Business Connect account?

To disconnect a merchant ID from your Apple Business Connect account, follow these steps:

-Sign in to Apple Business Connect

-Go to Tap to Pay on your iPhone

-Select your merchant ID

-Tap 'Remove’

What does it mean when a customer taps their card and my phone displays a 'Try a Different Card' or 'Unable to Read Card' error?

This indicates that the customer is using a contactless card that Stripe does not support. For instance, an international customer might have a card that is not widely accepted outside of their region

When attempting to use Tap to Pay on iPhone, an iOS alert displayed this message: “Unable to Set Up Tap to Pay on iPhone - Remove one or more cards from Wallet and try again.” What does this mean?

This error typically occurs during setup on a new device when there is insufficient space to load Tap to Pay on iPhone. This issue is often caused by having too many payment cards set up in Apple Wallet. To resolve it, try removing one or more cards from Apple Wallet, and then attempt to use Tap to Pay on iPhone again.

Additionally, you can click here and sign in to Apple Business Connect using the same Apple Account associated with Tap to Pay on iPhone to view your merchant ID.
